White-tailed Deer
While walking along the boardwalk at Corkscrew Swamp, this White-tailed Deer walked 2/3rds of the way across a field before she spotted me and paused for about 10 seconds before running back in the direction that she came.
Blue-winged Teal Pair
While photographing a mixed-species flock of ducks in the Everglades, this Blue-winged Teal pair separated from the rest of the group which allowed for some images of the pair by itself without other ducks in the background or foreground. In addition, there was almost no wind which provided still water absent of distracting ripples.
Sticks Against the Sky
When I came across these snags and the partly cloudy sky, I thought they would compliment each other well. I got down low and shot up to frame the snags against the sky to create a more dramatic effect.
Northern Shoveler
These Shovelers were foraging in a small flock of about 10 birds. Ocassionally, one individual would break away from the rest of the group and I could isolate it without the other birds distracting in the foreground or background.
Great Blue Heron Plumage Detail
It was enjoayable photographing the plumage on this displaying Great Blue Heron. It displayed around me for about 20 minutes and I was able to capture several different compositions of the feather detail.
Semipalmated Plover
The Semipalmated Plover is somewhat unique among the shorebirds in that it normally occurs in smaller flocks than other shorebirds. It nests in arctic and subarctic open habitats and winters along the west and east coasts of the United States, Mexico, and Central America.

This bird was captured in Florida in full breeding plumage before it left for it's breeding grounds in the arctic. Often it's possible in Florida to photograph shorebirds in their breeding plumage in early May either before they leave for their breeding grounds or as they are migrating through.
Florida Violet
This little violet was a challenge to photograph in between the brief bursts of wind that caused it to move on it's small stem. It never ceases to amaze me how the tiniest bit of wind can move a flower so much. In between wind gusts, I was able to find a few brief seconds where it was perfectly still.
