Long-billed Curlew
This was the first Long-billed Curlew that I ever saw. Curlews use their long bill to capture shrimp and craps that are burrowed deep into tidal mudflats or to catch deeply buried earthworms in grasslands. This bird was very tame and often approached me closely as it wondered the beaches of Fort Desoto Park.
Laughing Gulls
When I noticed these Laughing Gulls sleeping along the edge of the beach, I thought they looked very artistic as their bodies faced each other while their heads faced in opposite directions.

Osprey
*Yawn*
I watched this Burrowing Owl perch outside of its burrow for some time before it started throwing its head back and yawning. I though an image of the yawn would be quite comical when the action was frozen in time.
Bringin' Home the Fish
There are several Osprey nests along the beach at Lovers Key State Park in Fort Myers Beach. When I visited the park this March, most of the young had hatched and the parents were actively bringing fish to the nest. This adult bird took a flight path directly at me as it flew toward its nests before it veered off in another direction.

This adult bird took a flight path directly at me as it flew toward its nests to feed its young with a freshly caught fish.
