Great Egret Head Portrait While Great Egrets are a common Florida bird, there is something about the sheer purity of their plumage that fascinates me. When you look at a closeup of their feathers and facial structure, it's amazing all the details that are there that may go unnoticed. You can also see the fine granules of sand that are hard to see otherwise. I found this bird a well-used beach in Florida so it was somewhat accustomed to people. Despite its trusting nature, I started photograhing it while I was further away and gradually approached closer to allow him to become comfortable with my presence.
