Anhinga Plumage Detail
While this Anhinga was preening, it had it's back toward me, and I noticed the amazing plumage detail and symmetry in the wing feathers. I took several images and picked this one because the head was tilted slightly toward me revealing some of the feathers on top of the head.
Great Blue Heron Plumage Detail
It was enjoayable photographing the plumage on this displaying Great Blue Heron. It displayed around me for about 20 minutes and I was able to capture several different compositions of the feather detail.
Florida Violet
This little violet was a challenge to photograph in between the brief bursts of wind that caused it to move on it's small stem. It never ceases to amaze me how the tiniest bit of wind can move a flower so much. In between wind gusts, I was able to find a few brief seconds where it was perfectly still.

Standing On a Mirror
As common as Great Egrets are, I'm always amazed how beautiful they are when I'm watching or photographing one. One morning on Fort Myers Beach, I was watching this Great Egret forage in a lagoon just before the sun had come up. The water was perfectly still which created a clear reflection of the bird in the water. The outstretched neck with the bill nearly in the water also make for an interesting pose.
Great Egret Head Portrait
While Great Egrets are a common Florida bird, there is something about the sheer purity of their plumage that fascinates me. When you look at a closeup of their feathers and facial structure, it's amazing all the details that are there that may go unnoticed. You can also see the fine granules of sand that are hard to see otherwise.

I found this bird a well-used beach in Florida so it was somewhat accustomed to people. Despite its trusting nature, I started photograhing it while I was further away and gradually approached closer to allow him to become comfortable with my presence.
